I was truly heartened when Joe Biden stepped aside. That was a very classy thing to do. I voted for Biden in 2020 and I would have voted for him again this year. But frankly, he didn\u2019t have a chance against Donald Trump. There\u2019s so much riding on this election, it\u2019s just nuts.![\"Kamala](\"https:\/\/dmp.kfu.temporary.site\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/harris-for-pres.jpg\")
\nMy preferred candidate to run against Trump would\u2019ve been Michelle Obama. Based on polling from last July, she had the best chance of winning \u2013 nearly a ten point margin. But Harris is a good candidate and the way she\u2019s put her campaign together on the run was beyond my expectations.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s the only candidate running who is actually qualified for the job of president. In her four years as vice president, she\u2019s grown into the job. The problems she had initially with staff turnover and negative publicity have all but faded away. Her background as a prosecuting attorney, as attorney general of California, as a US Senator and finally as vice president have been good preparation for her to assume the job of president. She has the temperament, the intelligence, and the wherewithal for the job.<\/p>\n
Trump on the other hand, is not fit to sell used cars. Trump\u2019s a fascist who is a convicted felon, a pathological liar, a malignant narcissist, and quite possibly a psychopath; this is not the sort of person I would have as president of the United States. In the words of retired General Mark Milley, \u201cNo one has ever been as dangerous to this country as Donald Trump,\u201d the general told [Bob] Woodward. \u201cNow I realize he\u2019s a total fascist. He is the most dangerous person to this country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elect Trump, and that quite likely might be the last legitimate election ever held in this country. He has no respect for the Constitution or the principles this country was founded on. Left to his own devices and with the support of the Supreme Court, he would turn this country into the kingdom of Trump. An autocracy, something along the lines of what his mentor Putin, has done with Russia. And that is intolerable.<\/p>\n
